Congratulations to Dr Sharefa Alansari (Class of 2024), Intern at BDF, recently recognised as the 2025 Intern Award Recipient!
Dr Alansari was presented with her glass trophy on Tuesday 27 May 2025 by Professor Alfred Nicholson, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Head of School of Medicine, Professor Naji Alamuddin, Associate Professor in Medicine and Deputy Head of School of Medicine, and Dr Nichola McLarnon, Head of Quality and Academic Development at RCSI Medical University of Bahrain.
The selection of the Intern Award winner is based on information received by consultants, residents, co-workers, colleagues, and fellow peers through a Multi-Source Feedback (MSF) evaluation. The feedback focuses on clinical skills, communication, collaboration with other healthcare professionals, professionalism, and patient management which is then collated and analysed by the Quality Enhancement Office.
Receiving the news of the award, Dr Alansari spoke about her internship experience by saying: “Internship provided me with unlimited opportunities to learn. It taught me how to approach patients, build a rapport, organize a list of differential diagnoses along with the appropriate investigations and management plan. Being held responsible have taught me to be thorough and careful about the smallest details about each patient I encounter. It was a safe environment which provided me with all the support needed in each step along the road.”
Dr Alansari left a piece of advice for students and current interns:
“If I were to give one advice about internship, make the most out of it. Learn as much as possible, explore as much as possible and be proactive as much as possible.”
Congratulations to Dr Alansari and best of luck on her next chapter!
